Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center "Closing One Red Door, Opening Two"
406 West University (Georgetown) 1811 SE Innerloop (Georgetown) Where We Were Where We Are
The Children's Advocacy Center was chartered as a non profit 501 ( c ) (3) in 1997. Then "District Attorney" Ken Anderson recognized the need for Williamson County children to have a safe and child friendly place to talk about alleged sexual and/or physical abuse. The quaint 1300 sq ft "home" at 406 West University Ave, Georgetown, started with one employee and accomplished 103 forensic interviews in 1998. In 2008, 639 forensic Interviews were conducted at the center. In 2001, our current District Attorney John Bradley, replaced Ken (now Judge Anderson) as the Board President of this successful and growing non profit. He and the Board realized that the growth of Williamson County dictated the need for a larger Children's Advocacy Center, and in 2005 undertook the challenge of designing and finding financial support for a new "home". The result is a beautiful, 7500 sq ft facility which has expanded forensic interview services and added full time counseling and forensic medical exams. We have many people to thank for making this dream come true.
