Child victims of sexual assault often require a medical exam to determine their current medical condition and the extent of any abuse.
As an alternative to taking a child to a hospital, the WCCAC is equipped to provide this medical evaluation while the child is still at the Center for the interview. Specialized nurses (SANEs) partner with us to provide forensic sexual assault examinations in our child friendly exam room – and work with law enforcement and the family to ensure the child’s needs are met.
The Children’s Advocacy Center currently conducts sexual abuse examinations at the request of law enforcement. The Center is a member of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and coordinates efforts through this program to assist victims.
